love NARS… hate the shipping

How many of you beauties use NARS products? François Nars knows how to make a girl squeal with his skin perfecting complexion products and intensely pigmented blushes (more bang for your buck)… But ordering online is such a hassle and … Continue reading

spring time collective haul (pt3)

Alright so here’s the final installment of this semi massive collective haul.

Purchase includes Buxom, Smashbox,and MAC.

I hadn’t tried any Smashbox items. I think I had a sample of the primer but never used it. I wasn’t very interested in what they were selling. Not sure why, but I just didn’t care for their products. I guess that’s until I spotted their under eye BB cream. This shade is “Medium.”

I don’t get why they call it that, to me just seems like any other liquid concealer. But anywho…it caught my eye so I picked it up.

It works well, gives me a nice refreshed look, doesn’t crease like crazy (although I have a deep set line under both my eyes, everything seeps into that crease), and it lasts. I like it!

Buxom was another brand I hadn’t try anything from. But I’d randomly come across this foundation, so of course I had to try it.
This weightless foundation can easily be compared to a BB cream or tinted moisturizer. I’d even compare it to a face and body foundation. Think MAC, MUFE has much better coverage.
This will be covered when I bring back my foundation review series.

spring time collective haul (pt 2)

On to the second installment of my collective haul…

This time we have a few products from NARS and Bobbi Brown.

First up NARS…

Maybe 2 or 3 months ago he released the contour/highlight blush duos. I picked up Gienah. As you can see, the highlight shade will not work as a highlight for me, you can hardly see it, but contour will be great. So if you’re about a New Guinea or deeper in NARS foundation shades, this highlight may work for you.
But idk about this one, the highlight could end up looking ashy. So try before you buy!
I may have been able to get away with Paloma. Ah well, this works. Contouring is one of my fav things about makeup.

Foundation Review Series: Make Up For Ever High Definition Foundation

There are already a TON of reviews on this foundation. From YouTube, to blogs, to Instagram, all over these innanets! But here’s mine. Cause I’m a part of this “blogosphere” I’m gonna contribute, someone’s interested in my thoughts, right?

So here we go…

Coverage
This foundation is like an extra layer of skin. Not in the sense of creating a thick elephant like skin, but like your skin, but much better. It offers a sort of perfection, especially for those with limited skin issues. The coverage it offers is medium to full, however, I can not attest to how heavy a coverage it offers, as I do not like full/heavy coverage. It has also be sheered out, perhaps in conjunction with a moisturizer or mixing medium. I used almost 2 pumps and it covered my whole face and slightly down to my neck. I did use about a half a pump more in certain spots of my face where I had a couple blemishes. I decided to use 2 pumps because this was New Year’s Eve and I knew I’d be drinking which meant, I’d probably sweat a little bit. I wanted to be sure it lasted and didn’t fade. We’ll get to that point a little later tho… Check out my FOTN from New Year’s here.

I believe if you have problematic skin, this foundation will work for you. You’ll need to work with it, layer it, but wait until each layer dries before you add another. It may take some trial and error to get the right amount without it being cakey.

the typical work face

it’s monday…but at least this week is a short week, with thanksgiving coming up (which reminds me, I still need to hit up the grocery for my meal ingredients! yea, we cooks around these parts!). but I also told myself that I’d wear make up everyday this week, monday-wednesday. so here’s day one.

today’s eye look is courtesy of wet n’ wild. I went and dug out the ‘comfort zone’ and ‘vanity’ palettes out of my bag of “give away makeup” as I decided I’m just gonna keep those two, lol! their shadows are amazingly pigmented, just super soft so they will create a small dust effect, be careful when applying.

another rarely used item I chose to use today is MAC’s ‘rich ground’ fluidline as a base. it’s a beeeeautiful rich brown/bronze color, I could’ve used it alone. as a matter of fact, I will one day. pop some black in the outer v area and add a tear duct highlight and I’m good to go for a simple brown smokey eye. yes!

brows are the usual: MAC brow pencil in ‘spiked’, MAC brow set in ‘show off’
